Aix-en-Provence is a city in the south-east of France, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. The city is part of the Métropole d'Aix-Marseille-Provence. Created in 2016, the Métropole brings together 92 municipalities and over 1.75 million inhabitants. The last few years have seen the Métropole foster digital technologies and pursue sustainable development, as municipalities are encouraged to become smart cities.

The region actively supports cities in developing digital solutions to improve the quality of life of their citizens, with a particular focus on mobility, public infrastructure, as well as water and waste management.

To accelerate its transformation, Aix-en-Provence set up TheCamp, an incubator for innovative projects. TheCamp brings together academics, entrepreneurs and businesses in the development of smart solutions for a more connected and inclusive city.

Committed to improving the quality of life of its citizens, the city is using new technologies and digitalisation to make sure that this transition benefits them the most. Its public policies and initiatives have been shaped around four pillars: a cleaner city, tackling air pollution, tackling noise pollution and improving mobility.

Aix-en-Provence aims to move forward with its transition and truly become a connected city to better service its citizens.
