Alcoy is a city in the province of Alicante in eastern Spain. Built among ravines, the city drew from the surrounding rivers to develop a flourishing textile industry that stood at the forefront of the industrial revolution during the 15th century. Today, textile is still one of its main industries, employing more than a quarter of its workforce.

While recognising the industrial sector’s significant contribution to its economic development, Alcoy seeks to harness digital opportunities to advance economic and social progress through a model of balanced growth.

The city has already curated a thriving and innovative eco-system, bringing together the private and public sectors and its citizens – partly through its participation in the DCC. Alcoy now seeks to attract new markets, businesses and entrepreneurs. In order to do so, it relies upon advanced infrastructure, a strong innovation culture and a highly educated and digitally skilled workforce.
Alcoy aims to further its digital transformation by investing in education and infrastructure to foster business opportunities.

Alcoy was a participant city in the DCC.
