The Communauté d’agglomération du Pays de Saint-Omer is located in the Pas-de-Calais department, in northern France. The area’s 3,700 hectares of the Audomarois marshlands are recognised as an important biosphere reserve by UNESCO and RAMSAR.

By the year 2040, the Communauté d’agglomération du Pays de Saint-Omer aims to significantly reduce its energy consumption. Its objectives include the renovation of its old buildings, the development of a local energy production mix and the promotion of alternative and collaborative modes of transport. The public administration is also looking to tackle climate change by developing rain gardens in rural areas, as well as planting more greenery in urban spaces.

The Communauté d’agglomération du Pays de Saint-Omer is also looking to advance its work through partnerships with neighbouring regions. One such example is its plan to establish and cultivate wild ecosystems around railways and waterways, taking advantage of unused space.
