Swedish and Italian municipalities have joined forces through the Sweden Emilia Romagna Network to participate in the ICC as a consortium. Already participants to a platform that fully embraces collaboration and peer learning, the consortium aims to further leverage existing synergies between Swedish and Italian actors to enhance their cities’ sustainability and drive their transitions into the digital era. The consortium consists of the Municipality of Ravenna, the Municipality of Vänersbor, the Munipality of Cervia and the Municipality of Trollhättan.

Ravenna is located in the north-east of Italy and is the capital city of the Province of Ravenna in the Emilia Romagna region with a population of roughly 160,000 inhabitants. Known for its history, monuments and works of art, it has been recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Ravenna has initiated its transition towards sustainable mobility through its participation in the Innovations in Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans, an Interreg Europe project.

Cervia is located along the eastern coast of Italy in the province of Ravenna in the Emilia Romagna region with a population of roughly 28,700 residents. Home to a large pine forest and a sizable coastline, the city focuses heavily on the preservation of its natural landscape and resources. Cervia is active in various local and European initiatives to promote the city’s social, environmental and cultural growth and to better serve the local population’s needs.

Vänersborg is located in the Västra Götaland County with a population of nearly 40,000 inhabitants and is the County’s seat of the regional parliament. Located at the most southern point of Lake Vänern, it offers an array of attractions and activities. Historically, activities in handicraft, shipping and trade were important for the development of Vänersborg.

Trollhättan is located in the Västra Götaland County in Sweden with over 59, 000 inhabitants. Its economic activities encompass heavy industries, hydropower, professional services and creation of intellectual property.
